The Office of the President is set to host the 6th Annual Youth Resiliency Conference, themed “Unlocking Opportunities: Finding Pathways to Success”, scheduled for October 22-24, 2024, at the President’s Office.
The international conference, which is organised by Canada-based MIDYNTA Community Services, aims to address youth radicalisation, challenges of settlement, integration, enhancing access to employment opportunities, building emotional & social skills, promoting holistic development, empowering voices, cultivating cultural competence and identity.
The Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs, Ambassador Abbey Walusimbi, says the conference will attract different stakeholders from Canada, UK, Australia, USA, Somalia, UAE, Kenya and various Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Uganda.
High-profile dignitaries expected include: the Somalia Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, State minister for Youth, Mohammed Barre Mohamud, Minister of Labour & Social Affairs Yusuf Mohamed Adan, Members of the Somali Federal Parliament; Said Ali Isack Mohamed, Hon. Ifrah Mohammed Awed, Qali Ali Shire, Senators of the Federal Parliament; Dr. Hussein Mohamed Dahir, and Him. Layla NurMah.
The conference will be officiated by the Minister for Presidency, Hon. Milly Babalanda, and will receive participation from the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama, State Minister for Kampala, Hon. Kabuye Kyofatogabye, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senior Presidential Advisors, Heads of Government Agencies and Departments.
Uganda’s population comprises of 10.4 million youth with a dependency Ratio of 103 per 100 working age Adults in Uganda who require platforms such as this presented by MIDYNTA, in order to protect them from different forms of radicalization bearing in mind that, Government of Uganda is doing everything it can to forge better pathways for it’s youth regardless of their origins.

MIDAYNTA was established in July 1993, as a family reunification project, and incorporated in August 1995, as a non-profit organisation committed to identifying, and responding to the needs of the community.
This is, the first time the conference is being held in Uganda, and we look forward to hosting more conferences, for the sake of our youth, here and in the Diaspora.
