Deputy speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa has defended government’s move to rationalize Uganda coffee development Authority .
While meeting coffee farmers from the Six sub counties of Ruhinda North at the Revered All Saints church in Butereko, Tayebwa dismissed what he termed as cheap politics preached by a section of politicians, cultural heads and Religious leaders who opposed the merger.
“I emphasize that the primary objective was to serve .There is no way the recent merger is going to have a negative impact on the coffee production as had been insinuated by some people. On the contrary, it will serve to fortify governmental initiatives geared towards advancing the sector,” Tayebwa stated.
He further pledged to offer support to all coffee farmers in Ruhinda North constituency to attain it’s objective.
” Given that our constituency heavily relies on coffee as its primary source of revenue, our focal point remains on augmenting the productivity of coffee plantations. We are dedicated to aiding farmers in acquiring quality seedlings and essential inputs, as well as enhancing post-harvest procedures, among other endeavors”.
Tayebwa urged and implored farmers to actively engage in the ongoing registration drive for all coffee farmers.
