President Museveni has revealed the UPDF has intensified the hunt for Allied Democratic Forces fighters wherever they are.

“The hunt to wipe out the ADF is being intensified. I salute, again, the Congo Government for allowing us to help them eliminate these criminals from Eastern Congo. In their ignorance, the ADF terrorists, thought the Congo forests, were heaven where the Security Forces could not reach. Following the devastating attacks by the UPDF ever since November, 2021, they have now discovered that actually the forests are death traps,” Museveni said in a statement on Thursday afternoon.

“Meanwhile, we are intensifying the hunt for the real authors of the terrorism schemes in Congo. They will be wiped out if they do not surrender.

Commenting on the recent operation targeting the splinter group of ADF responsible for killing of foreign tourists and their driver in Queen Elizabeth National Park, the president congratulated security for the success achieved during the operation.

In the operation, the suspected leader of the splinter group named Njovu was captured whereas three of his fighters were killed.

According to the president, whereas small ADF groups are trying to re-enter Uganda and commit acts of terror, security is on alert.

“Instead, we are re-enforcing our strength there and also guarding the rear.”

He said security will continue securing pre-prepared public functions like the Nyege Nyege festival and the Kyabazinga wedding.

“ I, therefore, advise the Wanainchi to be vigilant in the villages, the churches, the markets, public transport, etc. The infiltrators are few and with vigilance, they will be captured.”
