S4 first off with Maths in 2024 Uneb exams

The 2024 national examinations will start with Senior Four candidates writing their Mathematics papers on November 14, timetables released by the Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) shows.

A-Level candidates will sit the final paper of the academic calendar with Fine Art on December 6.

UNEB on Monday released the timetables for the 2024 national examinations, which include the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

According to the UNEB timetable, practical exams for UCE subjects like Performing Arts, Physical Education, Nutrition, and Food Technology will take place before the official briefing on October 11, 2024.

The main UCE exams will commence on October 14, with the first paper being Mathematics (456/1), and will end on November 8, 2024, with Chinese Reading Comprehension and Writing (396/1).

For PLE candidates, the briefing will be held on November 1, 2024. They will sit for their first paper, Mathematics, on November 2, followed by Science on November 3, 2024.

The UACE exams will start with a briefing on November 8, 2024. The first exam, European History (1789-1970) (P210/3), will be written on November 11, while the final paper, Art: Imaginative Composition (P615/2), will be held on December 6, 2024.

This year marks the first cohort to sit for exams under the new National Lower Secondary Curriculum, which focuses on competency-based learning.
