Security has announced a shs20 million bounty on whoever provide information leading to the arrest of suspects behind the shooting of Pastor Aloysius Bugingo’s vehicle leading to the killing of his bodyguard, Cpl Richard Muhumuza.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga confirmed the shs20 million bounty
“There is substantial cash reward of shs20 million to whoever can lead us to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of killer weapon,”Enanga said.
On Tuesday last week, unknown assailants traveling on a motorcycle sprayed bullets at Bugingo’s vehicle in an incident that happened at around 9pm along Namungona , Zone 2 , Kasubi Rubaga Division Kampala at Bwalakata Junction along National Housing Road.
Speaking on Monday, the police spokesperson noted that preliminary investigations have indicated that the killer weapon, a pistol used in Bugingo’s shooting incident was the same used in last year’s murder of blogger Ismail Tusuubira also known as Olaxxes.
He said recovering the killer weapon is also top on their agenda.
The police spokesperson also revealed that the Special Investigations Division of the Criminal Investigations Directorate at Kibuli has taken over investigations into the Tuesday night shooting.
“From now on wards, investigations into this incident will be carried out by Special Investigations Division of the CID at Kibuli,” Enanga said.
“We have put up a team to investigate the matter. They have obtained and continuing to obtain relevancy witness statements, got CCTV footage from main police CCTV cameras and private CCTVs, forensic and ballistic reports to aid in investigations.”
The police spokesperson however warned members of the public, especially on social media against coming up with all sorts of conspiracy theories about the shooting.
He said these theories hurt the feelings of relatives to the deceased and victim.
We have noticed that internet and social media are awash with all sorts of versions which are absurd with many people who lost relatives under similar incidents being hurt by these claims.”
