Police in Kampala have arrested 30 people in an operation carried out targeting criminal hubs in the city centre.
According to Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the intelligence-led operation targeted Container Village in Central Division, Kampala District.
“This area is known for criminal planning and narcotics consumption, often leading to crime around Clock Tower,” Onyango said.
He said the operation aimed to disrupt and dismantle criminal networks in the city centre , especially those who terrorise members of the public around Clock Tower, adding the suspects are currently detained at Central Police Station.
Police will continue to target other areas in the division to ensure public safety. This proactive approach demonstrates the commitment of Kampala Metropolitan Police to combating crime and maintaining law and order in the city,” Onyango said.
