The nomination process for local government leaders has officially commenced in Kampala at the Regional Electoral Commission offices in Ntinda, marking the start of a crucial phase ahead of the upcoming elections.

The Kampala Elections Returning Officer, Hasiat Rashid, provided detailed guidelines to aspirants, highlighting the key requirements for successful nomination.

These include valid copies of National identification cards, at least one seconder, and the presence of a single agent to accompany the aspirant during the process.

Before the official launch of the nominations by Jennifer Kobutunji, the Wakiso, Buvuma, Mukono, and Buikwe Regional Officer, a large number of aspirants had already gathered at the premises, eager to secure their place in the race.

The exercise is expected to attract significant participation as political competition intensifies across various local government levels in the central region. Electoral officials urged aspirants to follow the set guidelines strictly to ensure a smooth and orderly process.

The nominations are set to run for the next several days, paving the way for campaigns and eventual voting in the forthcoming elections.
