The MV Bukungu-Kaberamaido-Kagwara 1 vessel has successfully passed its floating test on Lake Kyoga, paving the way for its official launch later this year.

The 300-seater vessel, built to facilitate transportation on the lake, proved its seaworthiness and is now set to undergo final fine-tuning works.

“Today, our teams conducted a technical exercise to check the vessel’s ability to remain afloat and stable on the surface of water,” said Allan Ssempebwa, the spokesperson of Uganda National Roads Authority.

“Pleased to report that it performed exceptionally well.”

According to Mr Ssempebwa, the vessel’s successful test marks a significant milestone in the history of transportation in the region.

“This vessel is expected to serve millions of passengers over the next 50 years, and we are confident that it will do so without fail,” Ssempebwa said.

The MV Bukungu-Kaberamaido-Kagwara 1 is part of efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in the region, providing a safer and more efficient means of travel for locals and tourists alike.

Its launch is eagerly anticipated, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and communities surrounding Lake Kyoga.”
