Museveni to address world at Abu Dhabi sustainability week

President Museveni will later today, Wednesday address participants at the  Abu Dhabi sustainability week, State House has said.

The Abu Dhabi sustainability week is  a global platform that addresses the interconnected challenges that affect the widespread acceleration and adoption of sustainable development and clean energy.

In a statement, the Presidential Press Unit said Museveni, who is in Abu Dhabi at the invitation of his UAE counterpart is expected to deliver an address in which” he will share with the audience his

experiences in the remarkable journey of transforming Uganda under the theme, “Uganda’s Transformation: Leading Uganda’s Journey”.

On Tuesday, the president attended the opening ceremony of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025 and also witnessed the awards ceremony performed by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Some of the East African leaders who attended the ceremony included President William Ruto of Kenya and President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, as well as several world leaders.

The annual event is a testament to the legacy of Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose visionary leadership in sustainability and humanitarianism guides the UAE’s mission to uplift livelihoods worldwide.

St. Kizito High School Namugongo in Uganda narrowly missed the winning prize in the Global High Schools category for the Sub-Saharan Africa region.

The Global High Schools presented project-based and student-led sustainability solutions to challenges faced by disadvantaged communities.

Open Map Development Tanzania, a group from Tanzania, scooped the winning prize in the Climate Action category through their project on deploying flood management solutions that combine indigenous knowledge with geospatial data.
