The Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs Janet Kataaha Museveni, has commended Noah’s Ark Children and Youth Ministry in Mukono District for its outstanding contributions to Uganda’s disadvantaged children, youth, and adults.
The ministry, which recently celebrated 25 years of service, was praised for its commitment to aiding underprivileged children, particularly infants abandoned by their parents.
During the commemoration event, Hon. Museveni lauded the ministry’s founder, Piet Buitendijk, for his selfless dedication in leaving his home country to rescue vulnerable Ugandan babies.
She highlighted the critical role the ministry has played in providing shelter, care, and essential skills to some of Uganda’s most vulnerable children.
In addition to her remarks, the Minister commissioned two new facilities during the event, including a children’s care and shelter home funded by Tororo Cement.
Manish Varsan, a representative from Tororo Cement, encouraged the Asian community to engage more actively in corporate social responsibility initiatives to help improve the lives of Ugandans.
Speaking at the event, Piet Buitendijk expressed concern over the increasing instances of baby dumping and called for stronger efforts to address the issue. He emphasized the need for continued support for the most vulnerable children in Uganda.
Hon. Janet Museveni also urged the beneficiaries of the project to embrace Christian values and avoid negative peer influences, which she warned could lead them astray.
Noah’s Ark Children and Youth Ministry, established in 1999 by the Dutch missionary couple Piet and Pita Buitendijk, has positively impacted over 250,000 individuals during its 25 years of service.
The ministry continues to provide a safe haven for abandoned children and equips them with life skills to help secure their futures.
