Kampala Central legislator Muhammad Nsereko has pleaded with government to condemn the continued killing of people in Gaza since Israel’s invasion of the strip, a message he says was left to him by his now late father Alhajji Abdul Nsereko who died on Wednesday.
Nsereko made the remarks at his home in Bugoloobi where Alhajji Nsereko is mourned as friends and relatives celebrate the deceased’s life of a professional journalist, a kind father and friend to many.
Since morning, friends, family and colleagues flocked the Kampala Central legislator’s home to commiserate with him.
Nsereko says his father has been battling hypertension for years but he succumbed to cardiac arrest after a long day discussion with his children.
The legislators adds that his father asked him to ask government to condemn the ongoing war in Gaza and also asked him never to side with the oppressors.
A professional and passionate journalist, a loving father and friend are some of the words children, relatives and friends used to describe the deceased.
Alhajji Abdul Nsereko’s body will later today at 9am be taken to Kibuli mosque and later to Nama Mukono for burial at 2pm.
The late was born and raised around Kampala from where he also attained education at Muslim schools until 1970 when he joined Radio Uganda where he worked as an announcer before he started anchoring news on UTV.
The deceased was the first speaker of KCCA council but was later appointed an RDC before he started emceeing state functions until his retirement.
The late Alhajji Abdul Nsereko died at 76yrs of age, leaving behind no widow as he resolved not to marry again after his wife’s death in the 2000s.
