Minister Mateke’s body arrives in Kisoro ahead of burial

The body of Sarah Mateke, the former State Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs  has arrived in her home district of Kisoro.

Mateke died on Saturday at Mengo Hospital in Kampala after suffering a heart attack.

At around 10am on Wednesday, the UPDF chopper carrying the body landed at Kisoro airfield amid grief from family members and local leaders.

The casket carrying the body was later escorted by the UPDF and Police to her father’s home in Bungahe village,Nyakabingo parish in Chahi subcounty where a special service is being held for the late minister.

Mateke will be buried tomorrow, Thursday at Nyakabingo.
