The State Minister for Youth, Balam Barugahara, emphasized the importance of community support in shaping the lives of young people at the 4th National Safe-Motherhood Pre-Youth Conference.

Organized by the Ministry of Health and partners, this event demonstrated Uganda’s commitment to improving youth health and wellbeing.

“Young people, especially girls, face significant challenges, including teenage pregnancy,” Minister Barugahara stated. “To combat early pregnancies, we must adopt a multi-faceted approach.”

The conference theme, “Strengthening Communities to Improve Adolescent Well-being,” highlighted the vital role communities play in supporting adolescents.

Barugahara stressed that adolescents need support from individuals, communities and organizations to thrive.

“The well-being of our youth is a societal issue, requiring concerted efforts from government, civil society, the private sector and communities,” Barugahara emphasized.

Minister Barugahara expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Health, development partners and stakeholders for organizing the symposium. “We are stronger together for the good of our adolescents,” he concluded.
