At least 372 boda-boda leaders from the Kampala Metropolitan Area completed a one-week patriotism development course at the Oliver Reginald Tambo Leadership School in Kaweweta, Nakaseke District.
During the graduation ceremony, presided over by President Museveni, the importance of patriotism in promoting prosperity, peace, and Pan-Africanism was emphasized.
Museveni highlighted government initiatives such as Operation Wealth Creation and Emyooga, urging the boda-boda leaders to embrace entrepreneurship for socio-economic transformation.
The Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, acknowledged the pivotal role boda-boda riders play in maintaining peace and emphasized their daily interactions with the public.
Col Justus Rukundo, the commandant of Oliver Reginald Tambo Leadership School, outlined the comprehensive training programme that included lectures, field trips, and skill development sessions to enhance the leaders’ capacity for income diversification.
The successful completion of the patriotism development course underscores the commitment of the Kampala Metropolitan Area boda-boda leaders to contribute to national transformation, Col Deo Akiki, the deputy defence and military spokesperson, said.
