In a bid  move to intensify the fight against corruption,  Inspector General of Government (IGG), Beti Kamya has led the Executive Committee of the Eastern African Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (EAAACA) in a high-level meeting with Veronica Nduva, Secretary General of the East African Community (EAC).

The meeting took place in Arusha, Tanzania, and was attended by key officials, including Deputy Secretary General, Ms. Mutaawe Ssemuwemba.

As the newly elected President of EAAACA, Kamya underscored the importance of collaboration between the eight EAC member states to combat corruption.

“Pooling our resources and expertise will give us the strength to deal a lethal blow to corruption across the region,” Kamya emphasized.

The discussions between the EAAACA leadership and the EAC Secretary General focused on strengthening regional cooperation, enhancing transparency, and developing unified strategies to tackle cross-border corruption.

Kamya’s leadership is expected to enhance Uganda’s already robust anti-corruption efforts, bringing a regional perspective to a national issue that continues to affect governance and development.

Kamya’s role in leading EAAACA reflects Uganda’s commitment to curbing corruption both domestically and regionally, reinforcing the message that combating this vice requires collective action.

As Uganda continues its fight against corruption, this partnership within the EAC offers hope for a more transparent and accountable future in East Africa.
