President Museveni has appointed Dr Kedrace Turyagyenda as the new Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Education and Sports.
The appointment was confirmed in a congratutory message by the Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs Janet Museveni.
“I congratulate Dr Kedrace Turyagyenda on her appointment as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education,” Mrs Museveni said.
Turyagyenda replaces Ketty Lamaro, who was dropped last month as President Museveni announced changes to his team of permanent secretaries.
Dr Jane Egau Okou, the undersecretary, has been serving in the acting capacity of the position.
Welcoming Turyagyenda, Mrs Museveni expressed confidence in the ministry’s ability to provide a secure and supportive learning environment for students, despite challenges posed by the red-eye outbreak and recent cases of monkeypox.
“We take pride in our significant sports victories, both nationally and internationally. We look forward to His Excellency the President’s official reception of the medalists at the Teryet National High Altitude Training Centre,” the First Lady noted.
She added, “The progress in AFCON preparations is praiseworthy. I am optimistic about the swift conclusion of the Sports Bill amendment process and the necessary sub-sector reforms.”
She commended Okou, for her services during her time as the Interim P S, and expressed full confidence in the Under Secretary’s collaborative efforts with Dr. Turyagyenda.
Turyagyenda’s biography
Dr Turyagyenda is an Educationist who has been serving as the Director of Education Standards in the Ministry of Education and Sports.
Prior to that, she served as the Commissioner for Secondary Education Standards in the same ministry.
She is a member of several governance bodies of education institutions. She has published a number of education research, and presented a number of papers in international conferences.
Turyagyenda, holds a Doctorate in Education Management from Nkumba University Uganda; a Master of Science Degree from Leicester University in UK; a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Diploma in Education from Makerere University, Uganda.
