Buganda Kingdom Pledges to support EACOP in processing crudeoil.

The prime minister of the Buganda Kingdom Charles Peter Mayiga has urged government to utilize the money which is expected to come from Bunyoro crude Oil accordingly .

Speaking to the officials from East African Crude Oil Pipeline in Bulange today morning, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga said that Ugandans should be prioritized when it comes to Bunyoro crude oil.

“As Buganda Kingdom we support the development of processing crude oil from our dear country but we urge the government to make sure that Ugandans benefit and transform their standards of living ,”he said

Katikkiro Mayiga also noted that the government should use the money from crude oil to improve service delivery across the country not only in Bunyoro where oil is coming from .

“We urge the EACOP prioritize environment conservation because it will affect the climate change it the long run if its overlooked,” he says

He went on and urged EACOP to make sure that they created a strong partnership with the Buganda Kingdom to make sure that they resolve on the remaining challenges they are encountering currently .

The Executive Director of EACOP Guollaume Dulout said that the Oil pipeline which is under construction is expected to boost the incomes people living within the areas and the surroundings .

“We have plans to hire more Ugandans as we move forward to have the Oil pipeline in place . We already hire some but we expect to add more,”he said

Mr Dulout also applauded the Buganda Kingdom for supporting their development because they expect more Ugandans to benefit .

Over 3759 households are expected to be affected where 2190 acres of land from nine districts are already demarcated from Bunyoro to Tanganyika in Tanzania . ….
