Proverbs 22:6 reads that; “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” That is very evident with who I am right now. Because of what my parents instilled in me. I am grateful to my Brother James too for the message he shared with me from Proverbs 1:10 which reads that; “Son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.” Not to say that I never committed any sin, but that particular scripture helped a lot in keeping me on the path of righteousness. I made a vow with God and I kept it. The fact that my father had told me that sin holds no value, I prayed and promised God that i would never lay with any woman until I was married. I was able to fulfill the vow I made to God and to my father and God blessed me with a wife, Kutamba Doreen whom I married on 27th May 2023 when I was still virgin. The Lord saw me through and I told my father that I had made a promise to him and to God that I would stay a virgin until marriage though I was not sure whether my wife too would remain a virgin until marriage.
My father told me not to mind about whether I would find my wife still a virgin. He said the Lord who would made me fulfil my vow knew it all and He would make that happen as well. And indeed, God did it for me because my wife was also still a virgin. Therefore I can assure you that it is possible to find youth who are still virgins until marriage in this generation. If it was possible for me and my wife then it can be possible for you too. I would like to caution people about our prayers to God because I kept thinking that if I ever found that my wife was not a virgin, it would have been hard for me to trust her. She was not born again by the time we got married but then she said that if I ever found her not to a virgin, I would tell her parents that I did not love her anymore and she would agree to it. That kept me strong in the courtship and indeed, I found her still a virgin. Finding your partner still a virgin helps a lot because it creates trust. At the schools where I lecture, students know that I can never overturn the outcome of their results if they ever got a retake and they know that I can never have any intimate relationship with them.
I want to be a living testimony and my lifestyle should speak for itself so that whoever sees me, should never criticize the Christ we believe in. I want someone else to love salvation because of my lifestyle. Our readers and most especially the youth out there should know that God did not create us to be a sinners i.e to lay with anyone we come across. God created us so unique and of value so that we can set the world on fire. I have temporarily stopped lecturing so that I can focus on completing my PHD because it is quite a lot on my hands, now that I have just began a family. However, one professor Ephraim Kamuntu who does supervise lecturers told us recently that ‘once a lecturer, always a lecturer’. So, I have temporarily stopped lecturing so that I first complete my PHD. As we conclude, there is one thing I would like you to emphasize on. These days, the youth are taken up by so many things and what really hurts, is that some are as a result of their parents.
A parent can introduce their child to something not taking into account the consequences. That aside, some are because of our own making. I would like us to talk about the so much love the young people have for the European football mostly Premier League. Many people in this generation have no idea that it actually is an addiction like any other. You can find someone addicted to drinking alcohol, which ends up costing them their life. The same can happen to one who is promiscuous. I can tell you that I started supporting football when I was in Primary one and then became a star player in Primary three. I used to support Manchester United and at that time, the team had just brought in Ronaldo. I started by listening to football games on radio because Television sets were not so common. I loved football so much and I knew every technique about the game from around 2002 to 2022. In 2018 when I went to India, because of the difference in time zones, I used to watch Champions league as late as 2:00am in the night.
I used to engage in pre match and post-match analysis. There were so many groups, which were ready to satisfy my hunger for football. There were so many online groups, which used to analyze the matches. I was a student pursuing my Master’s degree but I used to sleep at 4:00am because I had to analyze football matches yet I had lectures as early as 7:00am in the morning. I came to realize that football had taken a toll on my life. When I came back. I rented a room and subscribed to DStv but funny enough; one gets bored watching a match alone. You have to go and look for company. You leave the comfort of your sitting room and decide to go to a movie shack to watch football? People do not know that, that alone is an addiction. Everything that is a doper mind, should be fed moderately. The excitement one gets while watching a football match is an example of what feeds your doper mind. Research shows that the excitement one gets while watching a football match is what keeps taking them to watch one match after the other.
It is equivalent to what drives one to smoke cigarette every other minute. Doper mind is that part of the brain that triggers excitement in your body. The one that pushes you to keep watching football all the time is like an urge. Football creates an urge because I would be lecturing and then pause to check for football updates on my phone. And I would do that while standing in front of students, imagine that being a software developer, even coding would be in relation to football. The students would know whenever I was in a bad mood if Manchester United lost a match. Watching football is actually not streamlined as a sin but the extent to which you do it is what makes it seem a sin. Please take this seriously because many of you are lost but do not know that you are. Spiritually everything that you make number one in your life becomes your god. When you are addicted to watching football, you do not have time to read the bible. Football takes over because it has become a priority in your life.
So, for example if there is a football matching taking place at the same time as fellowship, you will choose to go and watch the match. In fact, I used to feel so bad whenever there was a football match scheduled to take place at the same time as fellowship. Sometime I would decide to attend the fellowship but keep checking for updates about the match. And many of us do that. You find that someone is physically present in a fellowship but when his or her mind is elsewhere because Manchester United has a football match taking place. Psychologically, anything that takes up your mind more than anything else is what you become. Many people say during speeches that they are thankful to God because He is above everything else but when in actual sense, they have not taken off time to scrutinize whether it is true or not. When I took off time to scrutinize myself, I realized that God was no longer priority in my life. Some even go ahead to say that their dads are number one in their lives. So, Manchester United had become number one in your life.
I realized that I was spending more time serving Manchester United than serving God. Manchester United, “the Red Devils.” I actually researched about that “Red Devils” tagline and it scared me a lot. They were initially called the “Angelic Babies.” Supporters of Manchester United, please pay attention to this because it is addressed to you. In the mid-1900, they changed their tagline from “Angelic Babies” to “The Red Devils” so that they could sound a big threat to their rivals. I am quite critical so I used to ask some born again Christians who support Manchester United how they felt about it because at Old Trafford, which is the official stadium for Manchester United, there is a writing “Old Trafford is my heaven.” I then asked myself; “am I not part of this?” If we believe in this banner, is it right? That can be regarded as any other business. Some supporters say, that message is for those who actually put it there and not for them the supporters. But that affected me spiritually and I imagined the level at which I used to support football because I did not only support Manchester United but I would watch every single football league from morning to evening.
I would begin at 11:00am by watching Spanish under 12, then at 2:00pm watch Premier League, then continue with Spanish La Liga then watch Italian Serie A at 1:00am and I would research on other leagues as well as that of Uganda. There are many people who are at that level when it comes to football. They watch it to that level when they do not even play it. Apart from being addicted to God, all other addictions are bad. Whenever there was a football match, I would fail to catch sleep. But whenever I was going to pray and I started dozing, I would sleep. On 5th December 2022, I decided to let go of anything related to football. It was at a convention. I want to tell you that people out there are suffering with that particular addiction, especially young men. By the way it is so hard for one to admit that they are addicted to football related issues. It is until you personally convict yourself and know that the level at which you deal with any football related issues is no longer Godly. I know and I was lucky because the Lord revealed Himself to me in regard to that. I heard a voice speak to me while we were going to preach the gospel of Christ at a convention that the level at which I was dealing with football related issues was going to lead me into backsliding.
I used to know birthdays of each single Manchester United player, I knew the names of their spouses, and some of that information is actually still stuck in my head. I used to know all that information to that extent. Quitting the addiction of soccer takes a personal conviction. You have to acknowledge that you are in sin. I would like to end by telling people that I can never backslide in salvation because I put life on a weighing scale so to speak. I know the good of being born again and the bad of not being. I can never backslide. I boldly tell people that I am born again and I will die born again. I want to tell people that they should not simply say they are born again but let those who see them, see salvation. Let the one who sees you yearn to become born again even before they hear you speak. Remember how I have been telling you that many people did not believe that I could stay born again right from when I joined Ntare school to university and all the way to India. Many thought I could never complete university without getting sexually involved with the girls. They used to say that a man can never stay for long without having sex.
We professors used to argue a lot about how it is in the nature of a man to lay with as many women as possible. I disagree with that. I am not only advising the youth because I have not even made a year in marriage but I am very sure that I will never commit adultery. It is only death that will do me apart with my wife and I will never lay with another. I do not want to put God’s name to shame because I know that with Him, everything is possible. It is possible to stay a virgin until you are married and they should not lie to people that it is in the nature of a man to lay with many women. I will never lay with any other woman except my wife until I die. I even told my wife that we should start up an organization that will encourage people to stay virgins until marriage. I want to start it so that I can encourage people because the biggest cause leading to the rising numbers of LGBT in Europe is because children are encouraged to involve themselves in sexual acts as early as the age of 13. And because they started it at an early age, they get fed up of laying with the opposite sex by the age of 18 and they end up discovering doing it with the same sex.
I would like to assure the young people out there that yes, it is possible to stay a virgin until marriage if you trust in the Lord to guide you. It is a very interesting thing to find that your spouse has never had sex with any other person apart from yourself. I do trust my wife 100% even if she spent a night in a room with male colleagues. Because I found her a virgin and she also trusts me fully. Many people disregard salvation because they do not know about its goodness. All the necessary information about salvation is available. I personally became born again and yet there was no call being made for those who wanted to receive Christ but I simply weighing the good things of receiving salvation in comparison to the bad things not receiving it. The good things outweighed the bad things by far. I have never seen anyone who regrets receiving salvation and my father also said the same.
Therefore salvation is very important and making a covenant and sticking to it until you die. That is very important. Because right now if I commit adultery, my testimony will have lost meaning and I do not want that to happen and it will never happen because the Christ I received is a living God. God forbid I would like to tell all the parents who are reading this, that it is your responsibility to raise your child in the right way. Let me explain this briefly. What is the right way? Jesus Christ said in John 16 that; “I am the way, the truth and the light.” And that is what we mean by the right way, there is no other. These days parents concentrate on teaching their children other things and pay no attention to the right way, which is Christ. There is no other way because Christ said that He is the way, the truth and the life. That is the right way that we are talking about dear parents which I believe contributed a lot to my life and hence my testimony where it was possible for me to marry when i was still a virgin as well as my wife. And those of you who watch football matches until late in the night, think about it critically because you will end up as losers.
