The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has dismissed allegations of killings in Komanda–Eringeti, Democratic Republic of Congo, under Operation Shujaa.

In a statement dated September 4th, the UPDF confirmed that the incident occurred in Apakwanga, about 40 kilometers north of Komanda in Mambasa territory, where two Ugandan soldiers lost their lives during a confrontation with ADF rebels. The area was previously a stronghold of ADF leader Musa Baluku, which the joint forces successfully dislodged.

According to UPDF, the enemy, under pressure from joint UPDF and FARDC operations, has resorted to carrying out reprisal attacks in isolated villages to intimidate civilians and seek publicity.

The army further revealed that UPDF-FARDC launched a successful attack on two groups of 10–15 ADF fighters in Chabi, killing three terrorists and recovering three guns. Pursuit operations are ongoing to neutralise another splinter group of 15–20 fighters operating around Oicha.

The UPDF reiterated its commitment, alongside FARDC, to dismantling ADF terrorist networks, protecting civilians, and ensuring lasting peace and stability in Eastern DRC.
